Serum for the Soul By Tom Hearn

I was lucky enough to get a media pass for the NIMA’s in Darwin on Friday night and yarned with a bunch of amazing artists including Michael Hohnen from Skinnyfish Music, Dan Sultan, Shellie Morris, Blue King Brown and others.

And yes we have pics, videos and yarns just for our Bushtv mob which we will post in the coming days. Thumbs up people if you want to be the first to share the NIMA love!!

Great pics and long amazing interview with Dan first up on Monday!

Michael from Skinnyfish was kept busy collecting the awards all night while Gurrumul was resting up at home on Elcho before the big tour next week.

Gurrumul listened to the awards night on Skype surrounded by family and friends.

If you haven’t heard already collecting the five [5] big gongs of the night was Gurrumul Yunupingu, which came as no surprise to many in the audience. His new album Rrakala was awarded Album of the Year and Artwork of the Year whilst the man himself “Act of the Year”. More surprising were the wins for the song Gathu Mawula.  A remix from a track on his debut album, this collaboration with Blue King Brown took out awards for Song of the year and Film Clip of the year; the latter currently surpassing the 40,000 hit mark on youtube –

Check this clip out guys and share it with your friends, and then get ready for our feature stories with Blue King Brown about their amazing journey with Gurrumul on Gathu Mawula! We also yarn with Dan Sultan about the major turning points in his life and musical career and meet up with the ever graceful and warm Shellie Morris!
